Japan-U.S. drill to start Oct. to involve Japan's long-range missiles

A major Japan-U.S. joint drill to start in October is expected to involve the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force's long-range missiles, a Defense Ministry source said Saturday.

The Type-25 surface-to-ship guided missiles were deployed to Kumamoto Prefecture in southwestern Japan in March as the country's so-called counterstrike capabilities to hit enemy territory directly in an emergency.
