Japan PM departs for U.S. for U.N. General Assembly, talks with Trump

TOKYO - Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi departed for the United States on Monday to deliver her first address at the U.N. General Assembly, with a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump planned on the sidelines.

The prime minister, who took office last October, told reporters before leaving Tokyo that she will express Japan's resolve to tackle issues such as technological innovations driven by artificial intelligence as well as strengthen supply chains for energy and other commodities, among other things.
