SEOUL - A Japanese official approached North Korea's sports minister Kim Il Guk at the venue of the opening ceremony of the Asian Games, but Kim walked away without responding, diplomatic sources said Sunday.
The sources said the official in charge of North Korean policy intended to express Tokyo's willingness to promote exchanges with Pyongyang at the venue of Saturday's ceremony in Nagoya, but an aide to Kim intervened. The two Asian countries have no diplomatic relations.
