N. Korea-linked hackers steal crypto assets worth at least 1.7 bil. yen

TOKYO - North Korea-linked hackers have targeted engineers in more than 100 countries and regions, including Japan, stealing cryptocurrency assets worth at least 1.7 billion yen ($11 million) and illegally transferring them to North Korea, Japan's National Police Agency and other sources said Friday.

Japanese authorities also said they have confirmed a method that allows the hackers to remotely operate devices belonging to supporters in Japan to obtain foreign currency.
