JAKARTA - A Japanese Self-Defense Forces transport ship carrying three CH-47 helicopters arrived at a port in wildfire-hit Indonesia on Thursday to take part in the SDF's first firefighting mission overseas, the Japanese Defense Ministry said.
Around 350 members of the maritime and ground defense forces will take part in the mission. The Ground Self-Defense Force choppers will operate from West Kalimantan to assist the Indonesian military with aerial firefighting for around a week from Sunday.
