TOKYO - Ozeki Kirishima defeated his fellow title rival komusubi Wakatakakage to share a three-way tie for the lead at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament on Wednesday as ozeki Kotozakura fell to an early losing record after 11 days.
Kirishima (9-2) and Wakatakakage (8-3) each secured a belt hold but it was the former who was more astute, the re-promoted ozeki never relinquishing his right underarm grip while shaking off the left overarm hold from his opponent before forcing him out at Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan.
