TOKYO - The Japan Sumo Association said Thursday that it will stage a three-day exhibition from June 11 next year in Bangkok, marking the first of its kind in Thailand.

The exhibition tour will be the association's third consecutive overseas performance, following London last year and Paris this year, and will commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Thailand in 2027.

The JSA holds such an event at the invitation of a foreign host, with mainly top-division wrestlers competing in exhibition bouts and performing ring-entering ceremonies to promote friendship.

One Bangkok Forum, the venue for the exhibition, hosts about 5,800 people.
