TOKYO - Overnight leader Kirishima fell to former ozeki Shodai at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament on Tuesday as his closest title rivals all won to create a six-way tie for the lead after 10 days of action.
Re-promoted ozeki Kirishima (8-2) saw his powerful opening charge stopped by Shodai (4-6) and a busy opening tussle came to a sudden end when the current No. 5 maegashira timed his slap down to perfection, forcing Kirishima to touch the sand with both hands at Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan.
