BERLIN - Japan forward Shuto Machino scored his second goal of the campaign as Borussia Monchengladbach ended their six-game losing start to the German Bundesliga season with a 3-2 win away to Stuttgart on Friday.

Gladbach gave away a fifth-minute opener as keeper Moritz Nicolas failed to keep out a 25-meter effort from Ermedin Demirovic, but Japanese midfielder Zento Uno's shot was flicked in by Joe Scally as the visitors leveled in the 38th minute at MHPArena.

Gladbach turned the game around in the 51st minute when 17-year-old Wael Mohya muscled his way past two defenders near the left byline before pulling the ball back for Machino, who swept the ball high into the near top corner first time.

Mohya headed in off a goalmouth scramble for their crucial third in the 66th minute and although Demirovic's headed goal seven minutes from time made for a nervy end, Gladbach held on to secure their first points.

Japan defender Daiki Hashioka played the full 90 minutes for Gladbach, for whom Japan captain and defender Ko Itakura was missing for the third straight match after the international break.
