LONDON - Japan forward Daizen Maeda scored his first English Premier League goal for Ipswich Town in a 3-2 loss away to Manchester City on Saturday.
The 28-year-old, who transferred from Scottish champions Celtic in the summer, made it 1-1 with a clinical finish in the 21st minute at Manchester's Etihad Stadium.
Timing his run precisely, Maeda received a ball from the wing and shrugged off a defender before beating goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from the right of the area.
Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland put City back in control with goals either side of halftime before the visitors pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.
In other Premier League action, Samurai Blue goalkeeper Zion Suzuki kept a clean sheet for Aston Villa in their 1-0 win away to Newcastle.
Midfielder Hidemasa Morita came on as a 75th-minute substitute for Hull in their 1-0 loss away to Fulham.
