NAGOYA - Japan's Sorato Anraku won the men's sport climbing boulder title at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, while the Kondo siblings of Hayato and Mitsuki triumphed in their respective weight classes in judo.
The 19-year-old Anraku was the only climber to top three of four problems in the eight-man final at Portmesse Nagoya, winning on 74.5 points to add to his gold from 2023 in Hangzhou, China, where he prevailed in an event combining boulder and lead.
"I was able to adjust my mentality and movement well during the competition," said Anraku, who won boulder at the world championships for the first time last year.
Lee Do Hyun of South Korea scored 49.7 for silver and Japan's Tomoa Narasaki 44.9 for bronze.
Mitsuki Kondo won her gold by ippon after pinning Abiba Abuzhakynova late in the women's 48-kilogram division final before Hayato won his 60-kg title by beating another Kazakhstani, Yeldos Smetov, through two yuko.
"I got switched on and was motivated," said the 25-year-old Hayato after seeing Mitsuki's victory, while his 21-year-old sister vowed to "work together and definitely win Olympic golds together."
In wrestling, Taizo Yoshida won the men's Greco-Roman 87 kg with an 11-1 final win over Asan Kurbanovich Zhanyshov of Kyrgyzstan. Ami Ishii also won a gold by beating North Korea's Pak Sol Gum 7-2 in the women's 68 kg.
