China's Xi arrives in U.S. for talks with Trump on trade, AI, Taiwan

WASHINGTON - Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived Wednesday in the United States to hold a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump over issues including trade friction, safety in the use of artificial intelligence technology and Taiwan, in a reciprocal visit following Trump's trip to China in May.

This is Xi's second state visit to the United States, with the first being a 2015 trip that included meeting then U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House. Xi last visited the country in November 2023 for an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum summit in San Francisco.
