Japan PM vows to Zelenskyy continued pressure on Russia in her 1st talks

NEW YORK - Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi pledged in her first formal meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday that Japan will continue to pile pressure on Russia through sanctions as the war has entered its fifth year.

At the outset of their roughly 20-minute meeting on the fringes of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, Zelenskyy credited the sanctions with proving effective. He also said Kyiv will never forget the humanitarian and energy assistance Tokyo has provided so far.
