SAN FRANCISCO - Kazuma Okamoto launched his first Major League Baseball grand slam as the Toronto Blue Jays routed the San Francisco Giants 10-0 on Wednesday.
Okamoto hit a long ball, his 21st homer of his rookie season, to right field in the first inning and went 2-for-5 with four RBIs at Oracle Park.
The right-handed slugger's opposite-field big fly hit the stands and rebounded onto the field, a homer that was eventually upheld after an umpire review.
"I hoped that would be ruled (a homer) as initially judged," the 30-year-old third baseman said. "I'll focus on every single game and do my best."
In other MLB action, Seiya Suzuki blasted a three-run home run, his 14th blast this season, in the Chicago Cub's 9-7 win over Baltimore Orioles.
Suzuki went deep for the first time in five games and finished 1-for-4 with three RBIs at Oriole Park.
Elsewhere, Roki Sasaki allowed three runs over six innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers edged the Colorado Rockies 4-3.
Sasaki did not factor in the decision, exiting the game with a 3-3 tie, after surrendering four hits and striking out five at Dodger Stadium.
His fellow Japanese teammate Shohei Ohtani finished hitless after joining the MLB 300-homer club as its 170th member the previous day.
