DENVER - Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani logged his 52nd consecutive game reaching base safely on Monday, extending the longest streak by a Japanese-born major leaguer and closing in on the Los Angeles Dodgers franchise record in a 12-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

Ohtani, who also owns the longest active streak in Major League Baseball, continued his bid for history with a third-inning single to right field off Rockies starting pitcher Jose Quintana (0-2).

The four-time MVP is currently third on the Dodgers' all-time list, trailing only Shawn Green, who reached base safely in 53 straight games in 2000, and Hall of Famer Duke Snider, whose 58-game streak in 1954 remains the benchmark.

Ohtani went on to walk twice and score two runs in a 1-for-4 outing at Coors Field where he also stole a base for the first time this season.

The Dodgers launched five home runs, including two apiece to Max Muncy and Dalton Rushing, to back a seven-inning, one-run start from left-hander Justin Wrobleski (3-0).

Elsewhere in MLB, Masataka Yoshida went 2-for-4, walked once and scored two runs as designated hitter for the Boston Red Sox in an 8-6 win against the Detroit Tigers.
