NAHA, Japan - The U.S. military in Okinawa said it will extend by another month a curfew implemented after the arrest of a Marine on suspicion of robbing and murdering a local woman.

The curfew from midnight to 5 a.m., originally slated to be lifted on Sunday, will now run through Dec. 7, covering military personnel under the rank of sergeant.

The move comes after another Marine was arrested for alleged drunk driving during the curfew, implemented in the wake of the arrest of Devin Ballard on suspicion of robbing and murdering a woman in Naha.

The U.S. military said sergeants and those ranked above will not be subject to the extended curfew, while all service members are prohibited from purchasing or consuming alcohol outside their homes after midnight.
