TOKYO - Princess Aiko, the daughter of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, traveled to Tottori Prefecture in western Japan on Saturday to attend a conference on disaster prevention and tour an exhibition of the popular manga series "Detective Conan," also known as "Case Closed."
During her three-day trip to the prefecture, the princess plans to visit areas that were damaged in an earthquake in 2016 on Sunday and see the Tottori Sand Dunes on Monday.
She arrived at Tottori airport, also known as Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport, and toured an exhibition of Case Closed, whose author is from the prefecture, adding that she had watched the latest film in the franchise.
The princess later attended a disaster prevention conference in Kurayoshi. She joined a lecture on disaster prevention from a woman's perspective on Saturday, taking notes as she listened to female firefighters as well as university students who volunteered to help after an earthquake hit Noto Peninsula in 2024.
It was her second time taking part in the event after attending the previous year.
She also visited an employment support facility for people with disabilities the same day.
