KUMAMOTO, Japan - The Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force on Saturday invited selected residents to see equipment for the recently deployed long-range Type-25 surface-to-ship guided missile in southwestern Japan in an apparent bid to help ease local concerns.
The Type-25 is a domestically produced missile designed to be fired from a vehicle-mounted launcher positioned on the ground, and its flight range of approximately 1,000 kilometers puts some coastal areas of mainland China within reach.
