TOKYO - A Japanese court ruled Wednesday in an AI cloning case that voice is protected as a publicity right, similar to the right of portrait.
The first ruling by a Japanese court on voice rights was handed down after a voice actor brought a lawsuit against the operator of Tiktok to take down videos on the platform narrated using artificial intelligence with a voice that he said was similar to his own.
