Asian Games: Japan win women's hockey opener with Olympics at stake

KAKAMIGAHARA, Japan - Japan beat Indonesia 7-0 in the women's hockey opener at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Friday, making a strong start in their bid to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics by winning the tournament.

While world No. 11 Japan had to wait until late in the second quarter to find their way past 45th-ranked Indonesia, the hosts were rarely threatened in the Pool B match at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium.
