TSURUGA, Japan - Kansai Electric Power Co. said Friday it has completed manually shutting down an aging reactor at the Mihama nuclear power plant in central Japan, after water was found dripping from equipment that does not contain radioactive materials.
Workers discovered the drips from the thermal insulation material around the air vent valve on the piping of secondary cooling water system at the No. 3 unit in Fukui Prefecture during an equipment inspection at around 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
