Promotion-seeking Kirishima takes 1st loss against Takayasu

TOKYO - Ozeki Kirishima hit a hurdle in his campaign for yokozuna promotion on Tuesday, taking his first loss of the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament at the hands of No. 2 maegashira Takayasu.

There were few other big upsets on Day 3 of the 15-day meet at Ryogoku Kokugikan, however, with lone yokozuna Onosato improving to 3-0 along with ozeki Aonishiki and Kotozakura.
