ATLANTA - Los Angeles Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a run over 6-1/3 innings but was charged with Thursday's 1-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves after being outdueled by opposing starter Chris Sale.
Yamamoto (12-8) surrendered his only run on his first pitch of the game when Drake Baldwin hit a hanging splitter over the right-field wall at Truist Park, as the Braves swept the three-game series, winning each game by a single run.
Sale (13-9) tossed a five-hit shutout, striking out 11 with two hit batsmen in a 109-pitch effort.
Yamamoto scattered three more singles while walking one in a 105-pitch outing, in which he struck out eight and completed three 1-2-3 innings as he made his third straight quality start.
"I went into the game focused, but I gave up a homer on a fat first pitch and that leaves me frustrated," Yamamoto said. "They had a really good batting lineup, as expected. I pulled myself together in facing each of them."
Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-4 for the Dodgers, striking out twice swinging.
