LAUSANNE, Switzerland - Paris Olympic javelin champion Haruka Kitaguchi threw a season-best 64.90 meters Friday in Lausanne, Switzerland, to mark her first Diamond League victory since June last year.
The 28-year-old also booked her place at September's season-ending final in Brussels with her 11th career win on the premier international athletics circuit.
Kitaguchi, whose best Diamond League finish this season had previously been third place, threw 62.73 meters on her first attempt, with her second throw eventually proving to be the longest of the day.
Colombia's Flor Denis Ruiz Hurtado placed second, while Serbia's Adriana Vilagos was third.
In other action from Lausanne, Japan's Tatsuki Abe finished fifth in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.39 seconds, while compatriot Shunsuke Izumiya placed seventh in 13.55.
