LAS VEGAS - Former two-division world champion Tomoki Kameda's WBA featherweight title bout in Las Vegas was canceled Saturday after his opponent, Brandon Figueroa of the United States, withdrew due to illness.

According to organizers, Figueroa fell ill after being stripped of the WBA featherweight belt for failing to make weight at the official weigh-in on Friday. The title had become vacant, with Kameda eligible to claim it with a victory.

The 35-year-old Kameda successfully made weight and was seeking to become a three-division world champion.

"I'm extremely disappointed," Kameda told reporters at his hotel following the announcement. "But this doesn't mean everything is over. There will be another opportunity, and I have to move on and focus on what comes next."

The Japanese boxer has reportedly been promised priority consideration should the WBA and other relevant bodies order a bout to determine a new champion in the now-vacant division.
