LOS ANGELES - Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw a solid three-run ball over eight innings, but was charged with the loss as the Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the Boston Red Sox 3-2 on Saturday.
Yamamoto (11-7) allowed four hits, including two solo homers, and a walk, while striking out three at Dodger Stadium.
His Japanese teammate Shohei Ohtani hit a single to center field at his first at-bat, going 1-for-3 with a walk.
In other Major League Baseball action, Seiya Suzuki hit an RBI single as the Chicago Cubs beat the New York Yankees 5-2.
Batting second and playing right field, Suzuki drove in a run with a single to center field in his final at-bat to finish 1-for-3 at Wrigley Field.
Elsewhere, Munetaka Murakami singled to extend his hitting streak to nine games in the Chicago White Sox's 1-0 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.
