MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin - Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw seven innings of one-run ball to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a series-clinching 5-1 win against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field on Sunday.
The Japanese ace fanned three, while allowing seven hits, a walk and a hit batsman as he gave the Dodgers another quality start at the scene of his complete-game gem in Game 2 of last year's National League Championship Series.
He gave up his only run in the second inning, when a fielder's choice brought home a runner from third. The right-hander was on top the rest of the way and retired nine of the final 12 batters he faced.
"They were swinging aggressively, so I just focused on throwing carefully and aiming for the right spots," said Yamamoto (4-4).
"Being able to throw a variety of pitches, even when I'm behind in the count, is one of my strengths. I was able to throw with confidence."
The Dodgers tied the game in the fourth inning and took control in a four-run fifth, with Kyle Tucker hitting a two-RBI triple before Andy Pages delivered a two-run home run.
Shohei Ohtani drew two walks but went without a hit for the first time in 10 games.
In other MLB action, Shota Imanaga (4-5) was charged with the Chicago Cubs' 8-5 loss to the Houston Astros following a six-inning start in which he surrendered seven runs, including three home runs among seven hits.
