NAGOYA - Ridership on the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train line during the 13-day Golden Week holiday travel period through Wednesday rose 4 percent from a year earlier to 4.93 million passengers, boosted by favorable conditions for leisure travel, the operator said.
An official of Central Japan Railway Co. said Thursday that the latter half of the period formed a five-day break, making it easier for people to travel. The Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train services run between Tokyo and Osaka in western Japan.
