SAN JOSE, California - Japan conceded a goal early in each half before Riko Ueki pulled one back in a 2-1 loss to the United States in the first meeting of a three-game women's football friendly series on Saturday.
Defensive lapses by Nadeshiko Japan led to midfielder Rose Lavelle netting the opening goal in the ninth minute and setting up teammate Lindsey Heaps to score three minutes into the second half in San Jose.
