OSAKA - Yokozuna Hoshoryu fell to his first loss and promotion-chasing ozeki Aonishiki a damaging second at the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament on Wednesday as 41-year-old Tamawashi set an appearance record in the elite makuuchi division.
Earlier in the day, winless yokozuna Onosato (0-4) withdrew from the 15-day meet at Edion Arena Osaka with a dislocated left shoulder that requires three weeks to recover, a similar injury to the one that saw him miss the last day of November's Kyushu meet.
