Workers involved in a serious plutonium inhalation accident at a nuclear research facility in Ibaraki Prefecture earlier this week were subsequently confined inside the contaminated room for about three hours, an official of the facility's operator said Friday.While their seclusion was meant to prevent radioactive materials from leaking outside, the workers were likely to have continued to inhale radioactive substances as they waited and been contaminated further.
