U.N. Security Council presses Myanmar on Rohingya crisis

The U.N. Security Council on Monday urged Myanmar to halt the "excessive use" of military force against Rohingya Muslims in its strife-torn western state.The 15-member body said in a presidential statement that the Myanmar government must "ensure no further excessive use of military force in Rakhine State" and condemned the violence that has led to more than 600,000 Rohingya fleeing the country.It also voiced "grave concern" over reported human rights violations and abuses in the state, including by Myanmar's security forces, against Rohingya.(United Nations)Myanmar authorities have said mi…READ FULL ARTICLE
