Yuichi Sugita bowed out of the Japan Open in the quarterfinals, losing in straight sets to Adrian Mannarino of France on Friday. Japan's last hope at the tournament, world No. 40 Sugita was eliminated 6-2, 6-4 by the 31st-ranked Mannarino in his first quarterfinal appearance. The two had split their previous two meetings.
