New U.N. sanctions resolution eyes oil embargo on N. Korea

The U.N. Security Council is mulling an oil embargo on North Korea in a bid to coerce the isolated country to give up its weapons programs, according to the first draft of a sanctions resolution obtained by Kyodo News on Wednesday.The draft text says U.N. member states shall "prohibit the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer" to North Korea of all crude oil, condensates, refined petroleum products and natural gas liquids.It is a brand new measure that has been mentioned in the past but never before put into a draft resolution and distributed to the full Security Council membership.Th…READ FULL ARTICLE
