Wild otter filmed alive in Japan, 1st sighting in 38 yrs

A wild otter was caught on film on Tsushima Island in southwestern Japan in February, marking the first sighting of the mammal in Japan in 38 years, a University of the Ryukyus team said Thursday.It is not known whether the observed otter was a Japanese river otter, which used to be found across Japan but is believed to have gone extinct, according to the team of researchers.
