24 dead, at least 5 missing in China's quake-hit Sichuan

The death toll from a powerful earthquake earlier this week near a scenic area of southwestern China's Sichuan Province has risen to 24, with at least five people still missing, local authorities said Saturday.The number of people injured in the magnitude 7.0 quake that struck Jiuzhaigou County has risen to around 500, according to the authorities.Among the 20 people who had been confirmed dead Friday morning, 14 have been identified.
