U.N. Security Council aims to slash N. Korea exports by a third

The U.N. Security Council is expected to put a blanket ban on North Korea's trade of major products such as coal and seafood that would slash the reclusive state's $3 billion annual export revenue by a third, according to a draft resolution obtained Friday by Kyodo News.The draft resolution was prepared after Pyongyang carried out two intercontinental ballistic missile tests in July in defiance of past U.N. resolutions banning its nuclear and ballistic missile activity.The United States and some other members of the council such as Japan are eager to adopt it as early as Saturday.
