TOKYO - Typhoon Faxai, one of the strongest on record to make landfall in the Kanto region of eastern Japan, wreaked havoc in Tokyo, Chiba and other prefectures.
In Tokyo, major stations were swamped by commuters as JR and some other train lines were suspended for most part of the morning. Meanwhile, in Chiba Prefecture, where the typhoon landed shortly before 5 a.m., strong gusts toppled power transmission towers and a 100-meter-wide golf driving range fence, among other damage.
