Rare giant tortoise hatchlings on display in central Japan zoo

Seventeen Aldabra giant tortoise hatchlings are on display at a zoo in the central Japan prefecture of Shizuoka after the country's first natural breeding of the rare species was a success.The endangered reptile, indigenous to the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean, is on the red list of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.On Monday, a zookeeper noticed hatchlings in an area where a mother tortoise had previously laid eggs.
