TOKYO - A Chinese university student has been arrested for allegedly injuring a man with pepper spray in Tokyo's Ginza district in May, police said.
Ye Shengfeng, a 24-year-old resident of Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, was arrested Wednesday by the Metropolitan Police Department's Tsukiji Police Station but has declined to comment on the allegation.
Ye is accused of spraying a man in his 30s with a capsaicin-containing pepper spray around noon on May 25 in the ATM area on the first floor of the Ginza Six shopping complex. Ye and the man are not believed to know each other.
Around 30 people in the vicinity also complained of eye and throat pain.
