Japanese astronaut Suwa to head to ISS as early as spring 2027: NASA

NEW YORK - Japanese astronaut Makoto Suwa will head to the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX craft as early as next spring, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration said Thursday.

It will be the first spaceflight for Suwa, a 49-year-old former World Bank employee who became a Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut in 2024.
