TOKYO - Japan's Toei Animation Co. plans to produce an animated short film with a Nigeria-based firm by spring 2027, making it its first collaboration with an African animation studio.
The 20-minute film, tentatively titled "The Storyteller: The Dawn of Legend," is a spin-off of "Trials of the Spear," a popular webtoon series created by leading African entertainment firm Comic Republic, known for developing original African superhero intellectual properties.
