Travelers crowd airports, stations at start of Japan's Silver Week holidays

TOKYO - Travelers crowded airports and major train stations in Japan on Saturday at the start of the Silver Week autumn holidays, with the five-day stretch the longest in 11 years.

The number of train passengers between Friday and the last day of the holidays on Wednesday will nearly match those typically seen in the New Year and summer holiday seasons, according to six regional companies of the Japan Railways Group.
