CHIBA, Japan - The Tokyo Game Show kicked off Thursday, marking its 30th anniversary with the expanded presence of exhibitors from overseas as well as more new entrants joining the sector from other industries.

A total of 1,138 exhibitors from 53 countries and regions, both record highs, are participating in this year's event, the organizer said. Among them, Capcom Co. is showcasing the latest installment of its popular Monster Hunter franchise, while Square Enix Co. is offering visitors the chance to try out some titles of its Final Fantasy series.
