Japan police panel starts talks to allow more foreign security workers

TOKYO - Japan's police agency on Wednesday launched an expert panel to consider allowing more foreign nationals to work in the private-sector security service industry as it struggles with labor shortages and an aging workforce.

The National Police Agency said the panel will examine whether people with Specified Skilled Worker or Employment for Skill Development status should be allowed to take security jobs.
