TOKYO - The business of turning unoccupied homes into rental properties is expanding in Japan where an aging population is bringing far-reaching socioeconomic changes, with renovated old homes proving to be effective in attracting young renters in depopulated areas.
Saitama Resona Bank launched a service last year to refer people owning vacant homes to companies specializing in real estate and related businesses.
