China tightens exit restrictions to ensure technology security

BEIJING - China on Tuesday tightened exit restrictions on its citizens if they are deemed to threaten the security of technologies or important industries in the country amid intensifying Sino-U.S. rivalry in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and humanoid robots.

The new entry-and-exit regulations targeting technology company officials and engineers, including Chinese nationals working at foreign private enterprises, have caused worries among businesses. It remains unknown how the rules will be implemented.
