Japan fighter makes emergency landing, runway briefly closed at Naha airport

NAHA, Japan - A fighter jet operated by Japan's Self-Defense Forces made an emergency landing on Thursday, leading to the temporary closure of one of the two runways at Naha Airport in the southern Japanese island prefecture of Okinawa, authorities said.

The affected runway was closed for about an hour from around 7:15 p.m., with civilian aircraft using the other runway for takeoffs and landings, the airport office of the transport ministry said. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
