FEATURE: Bhutan's 1st ramen shop thrives despite high-altitude challenges

THIMPHU - At 2,300 meters above sea level in the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, making an authentic bowl of Japanese ramen presented an unexpected problem: the water boiled too soon.

But after years of experimentation, Bhutanese owner Tshering and his Japanese wife, Sayaka Sakurai, have turned Hayate Ramen, the country's first ramen restaurant, into a popular fixture in the capital Thimphu as it marks its 10th anniversary this year.
