FEATURE: U.S. professor focuses on less-studied Nagasaki in teaching A-bomb history

LOS ANGELES - Students who sign up for James Nolan's "Remembering Nagasaki" course at Williams College in Massachusetts tend to have little prior knowledge of the Japanese city or its atomic bombing on Aug. 9, 1945.

According to the sociology professor, their awareness of the seaside city on Japan's southwestern main island of Kyushu is often limited to the few World War II-related details they were exposed to in high school.
